'Scratch that Itch'
Original oil painting of Immature Antarctic fur seal scratching it's toes by Una Hurst. This fellow was on South Georgia and is painted from material supplied when my cousin was visiting there. Painted with Artist's quality oils on fine Italian linen and framed in pewter to compliment the artwork, ready to hang.
52 x 42 x 3.5 cm (framed) / 46 x 36 x 1.8 cm (unframed) / 46 x 36 cm actual image size.
I have a great interest in South Georgia as my parents lived there for a time. In total I have painted 28 postage stamps for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands- the 1999 definitive 'Bird' issue, a set of 12, in 2004 I did the 'Juvenile Fauna' definitive set of 12 and in 2002 a set of four 'King Penguins' stamps.
A gift of £250 will be given to the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust from the sale of this painting. This is a charity close to my heart, I have painted watercolour gentoo penguins for sale at Port Lockroy for many years to help with fundraising.
